You can run Meteroid on your own infrastructure: on one machine with Docker Compose, or on Kubernetes with the Helm chart.

What you run

Four processes, each an image under ghcr.io/meteroid-oss/:
  • API (meteroid-api): the gRPC and REST APIs, the customer portal, checkout and incoming payment-provider webhooks.
  • Worker (meteroid-worker): scheduled jobs and queue consumers, such as billing runs, outgoing webhooks, emails and invoice PDFs.
  • Metering API (metering-api): usage event ingestion and queries.
  • Web (meteroid-web): the web app.
They run their migrations when they start, and each can run several replicas. They need:

Ways to deploy

Docker Compose

One machine, every service included. To try Meteroid or run a small installation.

Kubernetes (Helm)

The Meteroid processes on your cluster, connected to PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, Kafka and object storage you operate. For production.
Either way, the first account you sign up with creates the organization. After it, sign-up is closed and teammates join by invitation.

Editions

The open-source edition, built from meteroid-oss/meteroid under AGPL-3.0, contains everything a business needs to run its billing, metering and invoicing. The official images run the Enterprise edition: it is free, adds features such as revenue reports, dunning and tax reports, and a license unlocks the rest. Both receive every bug fix and security patch. In production, we recommend the Enterprise edition with the Helm chart, or Meteroid Cloud, hosted in the EU, to run nothing yourself. See Which one to run.

Versions

Every release publishes the images tagged with its version (2.0.0), and moves the 2.0, 2 and latest tags to it. Pin the exact version in your deployment and change it when you upgrade, so that every process runs the same release and nothing changes on a restart. The Helm chart is versioned with Meteroid: chart 2.0.0 runs the 2.0.0 images.
